HEBREWS 3:1

God created the heavens and the earth, and Hebrews tells us that by faith, we trust that the universe was formed by His command. Humans are uniquely programmed to be religious and have faith. Just as an atheist trusts by faith that everything comes from nothing (NO-THING), life springs from non life, and death leads back to nothing, we’re all wired to seek, zealous for God or a god of our own creation. The reality is through Him, all things were made. He reigns in glory, enthroned above the earth, radiant and nearer than our own skin. For those who love Him, we find joy in His closeness, knowing He created us in His image. Trust in God, for He is always with us, ready to hear, ready to forgive our sins

“The hairs of His head were white, like white wool, like snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire.” Revelation 1:14

This verse reveals Jesus Christ as the glorified and eternal Judge. The white hair speaks of His perfect wisdom and purity, showing Him as the Ancient of Days described in Daniel 7:9: “the Ancient of Days took his seat; his clothing was white as snow, and the hair of his head like pure wool.” His eternal nature and spotless holiness set Him apart from all creation. The eyes “like a flame of fire” portray His ability to see into the deepest parts of the human heart, exposing every hidden motive and secret thought. Hebrews 4:13 says, “No creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.”

For those who belong to Christ, this truth is a comfort because His gaze sees their faith, their endurance, and their love. 2 Chronicles 16:9 reminds us, “The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him.” Yet for those who reject Him, His eyes are a consuming fire of judgment, as Revelation 19:12 declares: “His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems.” One day, every person will stand before Him, and His judgment will be righteous and true. This vision calls us to live in sincerity before Him, clothed in His righteousness and walking in obedience, knowing that He is both Savior and Judge.

Hebrews 1:3 portrays Jesus Christ as the radiant reflection of God’s glory and the exact representation of His divine nature, sustaining the universe through His powerful word while accomplishing purification for sins before ascending to sit at the right hand of the Majesty on high, emphasizing His eternal divinity, creative sovereignty, and redemptive mission that surpasses angels. This verse resonates deeply with the hymn “Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence,” particularly in the line referring to the “Lord of lords, in human vesture,” which poetically captures the incarnation: Christ clothing His divine essence in human flesh to fulfill His sacrificial role, mirroring the purification for sins and bridging the divine and mortal realms in awe-inspiring mystery. At Our Confession Wear (inspired by Hebrews 3:1, calling us to consider Jesus as the apostle and high priest of our confession), we aim to share the great news of the gospel God’s power for salvation (Romans 1:16) and the powerful truth of scripture through our social media and wearables, and we’re just starting this journey to inspire faith in everyday life.
